Many blogs I have read, many of them has postings about trying to lose weight. Though I feel that most of bloggers are not in the chronic obesity stage, but it is an admirable attitude towards a healthier body. I was quite fat in my teenage years but nowadays my weight is maintainable. Thank God for giving me the courage to change myself.
Nonetheless, there are many with even worse obesity problems and having a hard time coming out of it. Not because they do not want to but sometimes the body is used to consume so much of a certain kind of food that its difficult to just start eating less or eat a different diet and do more exercise. Talking is cheap, doing is hard. I myself find it hard to exercise.
Sometimes when a person is already very obese, the only opt out is through surgery. Even a study has shown that for a person with stage 2 diabetes brought on by obesity is recommended to undergo a surgery to lose the unwanted weight. When surgery is mentioned here, most may be thinking of liposuction. Well, that is one of them. But there is another way, a much less intrusive way.
A few months back I saw a program on television where people talked about how they lost their weight miraculously after years of battling with it. I wasn't paying much attention then but I know that they were talking about a surgery that involves tying up a portion of their stomach so that they feel less hungry and can lose the weight naturally and keep it off for good.Well, now that I am going to write about this other surgery alternative so I have read a little bit more on it to know what this is really about.
This surgery is called the lap-band surgery. It is a restrictive weight loss surgery i.e. Bariatrics; which was conceived for helping obese patients with the Body Mass Index or BMI of 40 or greater. Or, for those who has the BMI between 35-40 but with a disease (e.g diabetes) that can be treated with weight loss.
The surgery consists of a band that is adjustable to tie the upper portion of the stomach so that the patient will eat less, feel full longer and lose weight the normal way. Like dieting the easy way I think. This surgery is less intrusive because only small incisions will be made and very little scarring. No cutting or stapling of the stomach wall or bowel, minimal pain and imagine after having a surgery and you can go back home in less than 24 hours. The band is totally adjustable according to the patient's needs and most importantly it is reversible. Once removed the stomach and other organs will go back to its original form and functionality. It is said that you can even use this band while in pregnancy due to its adjustable nature.
One of centers that offers this surgery is at the NewHope Bariatrics Surgery Centers. Their centers are located strategically across the US. In Los Angeles, Kansas City and Charlotte.
These are a couple of before and after pictures of one of the success stories from patients of this center.

Tess lost 161 lbs after the treatment. As she said in her testimonials, the treatment not only changed her figure and her life, but it also taught her to eat well. I believe that is what matters most because not being able to choose the right kind of food is the main reason for obesity.
Perhaps with this kind of treatments around there is not much excuse left to stay obese. When there is will there is a way. And here is a way and what is left is the will to go for it!
