Toy laptop - a fun learning tool.

Two weeks ago I ordered a Vtech Tote n' Go Plus in Pink laptop for my soon to be three year old. One reason that triggered me to buy it is because, like many other parents who bought it, I don't want her to mess with our PC and laptop. :D Another reason is because I hope that it will somehow help her to learn.

Not that I am not teaching her myself. I am. But I would like variety of ways of which she can learn from. I bought a very good book to help me teach her to read and the laptop I hope will be a supplementary learning tool since it does teach ABC recognition and phonetics. Further it is suppose to be a lot more fun than having to sit on mommy's lap and reading when mommy points at a letter. Perhaps a lot more motivating for a child to get encouragements from a pixel monkey on a tiny screen. LOL

Before going for this one, I read plenty of reviews. And most, if not all of them are encouraging. Some reviewers said their children as young as 2 years old learning the ABCs after a few months of playing. Some parents mentioned that it was one of the best purchased they have made. Not only because of the value, the educational quality, but also because the popularity of the toy doesn't seem to cease. Even after a few years of having the toy laptop, their kids still taking their laptops out every now and then to play and learn.

So, for those reasons I bought one. 50 over positive reviews with flying colours should mean something. Also.... because of this video of a little girl having so much fun on her vtech laptop. :)

I hope to see the same kind of excitement from my daughter. :) The laptop most probably will be here tomorrow. The parcel is tracked, saw that it has already reached Hungary. :)

Syari, I think these learning laptops are great. They have more than 40 activities to choose from for pre schoolers. We bought 2 of these for Syabil, one Vtech and the other one was something else. However, with Syabil, he prefers using the real PC. Daryn likes it though, but she only listens to the music and sound.

I guess when your kids see you work on the laptop or the desktop, they prefer those than the toy ones. Maybe, you should get Bonnie a desktop and get her familiarize with using the PC?

Farah, I wish can buy this kind of toys here easily. Everything have to order from overseas. :(

I would allow her to use the computer, but she doesn't know the concept yet. Maybe this toy would help. Also it is portable, she may want to take along with her to her grandma's.
