Since our daughter is already 2 years old, we've decided to potty train her. The only thing is, we have no experience at all for she is our first and only child at the moment.
We bought a small red coloured plastic potty for her. At first we wanted to get the toilet seat for children. So that we don't have to clean the potty. But we didn't because I read in one of the Parenting books that training using the child toilet seats intimidates the child. Anyway, we got the potty, so our journey of potty training began.
I usually told her when she soiled her diaper, that she "poo poo"ed. And if she pass urine, I would tell her, she "wee wee'd. Yeah the cute baby terms. So I started to show her the toilet and the potty and say poo poo. So since then every time she saw her potty or the toilet she would say poo poo.
My father advised us to try to put her on the potty first thing in the morning everyday. So I did that. Even showed her a picture of a toddler sitting on her potty too. And all the time I put her on the potty, she thought it was a game, smiling, laughing and wanted to see the baby sitting on the potty picture and imitate. Every time I heard, or saw that she was doing the "work" I would scream, "wait!!! potty! potty!" and run for the potty. But didn't work, because she never wanted to poo poo in the potty. She even got tired of it.
However, one morning, she said, "poo poo, poo poo" and pointed towards the toilet. So I asked her, "Bonnie, wants to poo poo?". She answered,"jo" means okay. I was really happy and excited that finally, she's getting it. I put her on the toilet and held her hands so she wouldn't fall.Waited. She smiled. Waited.... "Poo poo or not?", I asked. "jo" okay she answered. And I saw she was finally trying to push out something. Here it is, the moment of triumph in my career as a parent is close at hand..................... A big fart. Then she said. "Done" I was like.... "whhaaaatt???!!! That was it????". She looked at me with a straight face and got off the toilet. I felt cheated. Maybe she thought,"what else you want from me?"
So we decided to give the matter a rest for a few more weeks, at least till she understands what's the difference between "poo poo" and fart. And gives me time to read on about potty training.

hi.. wah dah start potty training ya.. my niece tu pun mama dia dok encourage to tell us whenever dia nak wee-wee. Pun belum boleh sangat. She's still in her diapers lagi. Cuma kalau nak poo-poo dia akan beritahu whilst doing it hehehe. Guess it takes time juga kan..
slm,
Sophia start potty training sejak umo 18 lagi tp masih jugak dia suka memberak kat diapers. dia pandai gitau bila dah memberak sambil pegang montot sampaikan aku tak sempat nak potty dia.
tu bagus lagi, sblm ni teruk jugak dah memberak dia korek diapers dia pastu cilok kemulut, yuck! hehe
so, agaknya kan mmg ambik masa jugak nak train dia. risau jugaklah sbb skrg nih dia dah 2 1/2 years old.
Rasanya bila dia nak mula potty semua terserah pada baby. Pasal, kita train je, tp samaada dia selesa ke tidak nak mula potty.Saya kalau boleh nak la cepat dia potty, jimattt sikit duit diaper. LOL
Nasib Bonnie tak korek lah, tp kalau bukak lampin dia nak gak pegang aik tu. aha ha ha. Budak2 belum tahu geli. Pandai kata eeiii bushuk... tp nak pegang gak.
